Awesome NFL Road Trip Ideas for the 2025-26 Season
To help you find the best NFL trip for your schedule, I’ve sorted these road trips by the week of the NFL schedule:
Week 1 – NFL Road Trips (Sept 4 – 8, 2025)
Wow! There are no shortage of excellent NFL trips in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL schedule! I’ve come up with three awesome NFL road trips for you to consider as the season opens.
1. NFL Season Opener Cowboys @ Eagles and Giants @ Commanders (Plus Billy Joel & Sting!)
Wow, the only Week 1 NFL road trip is a doozy! Not only will you catch the defending Super Bowl champions on opening night. You can then catch Billy Joel and String in an outdoor stadium concert, before catching a catching an NFC East tilt when the New York Giants visit the surging Washington Commanders!
Your Week 1 NFL Trip Package Itinerary
- September 3: Fly into the City of Brotherly Love. Renting a car for this NFL road trip is optional. Introduce yourself to the city with a food tour – find the best Philly cheese steak in the city! Also, don’t miss a chance to run up the Rocky steps!
- September 4: Go to the NFL season opener at Lincoln Financial Field between the Eagles and Cowboys.
- Sept 5: Drive or catch a train to Washington, DC.
- Sept 5: Catch Billy Joel and Sting play at Nationals Park.
- Sept 6: There is an incredible amount to see in Washington, DC. I’d recommend taking an all-day sightseeing tour which takes in all the highlights!
- Sept 7: Head over to Northwest Stadium as early as possible to catch the early game between the NY Giants and the Washington Commanders.
You’re going to two separate stadiums for your events in Washington, DC, so you have the option to stay at a hotel in downtown Washington or near the Commanders stadium. Personally, I’d stay downtown as it is closest to the major DC attractions (Lincoln Memorial, Smithsonian, etc.) as well as the Billy Joel / Sting concert.
Easy Booking Links:
- Tickets: Philadelphia Eagles, Billy Joel, Washington Commanders
- Hotels: Lincoln Financial Field hotels, Downtown Washington hotels, Commanders stadium hotels
- Tours: Philadelphia Food Tour, Washington, DC Sightseeing
Week 2 – NFL Road Trip Ideas (Sept 11 – 15, 2025)
Week 2 is an excellent week to go on an NFL road trip! The weather is good, every team is still optimistic, and there are three separate options for an NFL road trip to choose from!
Week 2 – Option #1: Commanders @ Packers and Bears @ Lions (Plus the Cubs and Lumineers!)
This Week 2 NFL road trip idea begins in Green Bay, Wisconsin for a Thursday Night Football match under the lights against budding superstar Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders.
You’ve got 2 days to kill before getting to Detroit, so why not break up the trip with a stop in Chicago. You’ve got a few options in Chicago – catch a Cubs game at Wrigley Field, or see Gravedigger and his friends at the Monster jam.
If you like the Lumineers, they are playing an outdoor stadium show at Comerica Field in Detroit on Saturday night. Finish off this amazing NFL road trip with an NFC North matchup between the Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions!

Your Week 2 NFL Trip Package Itinerary
- September 10: Fly into Green Bay as early as possible and rent a car. Check into your hotel near Lambeau Field. If possible, go on a tour of Lambeau Field, or explore Titletown.
- September 11: Arrive at Lambeau Field as early as you can to soak in the atmosphere at this iconic NFL stadium. Then catch the primetime Thursday Night Football game between Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders and the Green Bay Packers!
- Sept 12: Drive to Chicago and catch the Cubs play the Florida Marlins at another iconic stadium – Wrigley Field.
- Sept 12: Optional activity instead of the Cubs game is the Monster Jam show.
- Sept 13: Make your way to Detroit to see the Lumineers play an outdoor concert at Comerica Park.
- Sept 14: Ford Field is right next door to Comerica Park, so your hotel will be super close. You’ll end your NFL road trip with an NFC North matchup between the Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions!

Week 2 – Option #2: Giants @ Cowboys and Bucs @ Texans (and the Astros too!)
My very first solo NFL road trip included games in both Dallas and Houston, so this one brings back great memories. You’ll start your Texas NFL road trip in Dallas for an early Sunday game as the NY Giants come to town to play the Dallas Cowboys.
Take your time making your way south to Houston. Your next event isn’t until Monday Night Football, when the Houston Texans host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
If you’d like, you can hang around Houston for one more day to catch the Houston Astros play the Texas Rangers under the lights at Daikin Park.

Your Week 2 NFL Trip Package Itinerary
- September 13: Fly into Dallas at your leisure, rent a car and check into your AT&T Stadium hotel. If you have the time, go on a stadium tour – it’s such a beautiful facility!
- September 14: Arrive at AT&T Stadium as early as you can to soak in the pregame festivities. Then catch the Sunday morning NFC East matchup between the visiting New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys.
- Sept 14: Drive to Houston after the game and check into your hotel near NRG Stadium.
- Sept 15: Are you ready for some football?? Your next event is the Monday Night Football matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Houston Texans.
- Sept 16: If your schedule permits, why not hang out one more day and catch the big Texas rivalry game between the Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers.
Easy Booking Links:
- Tickets: Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Houston Astros
- Hotels: AT&T Stadium Hotels, NRG Stadium Hotels
- Tours: Dallas Stadium Tour

Week 2 – Option #3: Panthers @ Cardinals and Chargers @ Raiders
I love going to see NFL games in cities where there’s so much to do besides football. Phoenix and Las Vegas are two of the most fun cities to visit in the US, and you can see them both on this Week 2 NFL road trip! I’ve been to both cities for NFL games and can tell you that you should book some extra time on both ends of the trip to enjoy the best of both!
Your Week 2 NFL road trip starts in Phoenix, AZ. Before you make plans, be sure to read my post on planning a boys trip to Phoenix. If you’d like to catch some college football, arrive early to catch the Sun Devil Football team host Texas State. Then, on Sunday, you’ll see the Carolina Panthers take on the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium.
Then make your way to Sin City in time for the AFC West matchup on Monday Night Football between the Los Angeles Chargers at the Las Vegas Raiders. There’s so many cool things to do in Las Vegas, so make sure to read my guide to planning a trip to see a Las Vegas Raiders game to get even more ideas!

Your Week 2 NFL Trip Package Itinerary
- Sept 13: If you decide to arrive in Phoenix early, head to Mountain America Stadium in Tempe to catch the Sun Devil Football team host Texas State.
- Sept 14: Have a relaxing morning before heading to State Farm Stadium to see the Sunday afternoon game between the Carolina Panthers and the Arizona Cardinals.
- Sept 14: It’s a 4.5 hour drive from Glendale to Vegas, so why not get it over with right after the Cardinals game. That way you have a full day of fun in Vegas before the Raiders game.
- Sept 15: There are countless ways to have some fun in Vegas. Take your pick today, but make sure you make it to Allegiant Stadium in time for the Monday Night Football game between the LA Chargers and the Las Vegas Raiders.
- Sept 16 onwards: Stay in Vegas as long as you’d like…
Easy Booking Links:

Week 3 – NFL Road Trip Ideas (Sept 18 – 22, 2025)
The awesome NFL road trips just keep coming in Week 3, this time with two great options. There are powerhouse teams in both options, so good luck deciding which trip is best for you!
Week 3 – Option #1: Dolphins @ Bills and Packers @ Browns
Ahhh… another trip down memory lane for me… I did an NFL road trip between Buffalo and Cleveland a few years ago and it was awesome! Now it’s your turn to visit two of the most northern NFL cities – good thing this one is in September!
Your Week 3 NFL road trip begins with Thursday Night Football with the Miami Dolphins visiting Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. The fans in Buffalo are crazy (in a good way!). You need to experience it in person!
You’ve got a few days to make it to Cleveland. I recommend spending one extra day in Buffalo and hopefully catch a Buffalo Sabres game, and one extra day in Cleveland where you can visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Your NFL road trip concludes on Sunday when the Green Bay Packers (and thousands of their fans) visit to play the Cleveland Browns at Huntington Bank Field.

Your Week 3 NFL Trip Package Itinerary
- Sept 18: Arrive in Buffalo and rent a car. Drive outside of town to your hotel in Orchard Park, home of Highmark Stadium. There’s great pre-game atmosphere, so head to the stadium early for the Thursday Night Football game between the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills.
- Sept 19: Buffalo is a beautiful city with tons to do. Check out my guide to going to a Buffalo Bills game for lots of things to do. I recommend going to Niagara Falls, and going on a Buffalo Chicken Wings tour.
- Sept 20: Drive west to Cleveland and check into your downtown hotel. Be sure to visit Cleveland’s best attraction – the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame!
- Sept 21: After breakfast, head to Huntington Bank Field with thousands of cheeseheads to watch the Green Bay Packers take on the Cleveland Browns.

I’ve also got a great guide to going to a Cleveland Browns game.
Week 3 – Option #2: Rams @ Eagles and Lions @ Ravens
Your second option for a week 3 NFL road trip is packed with powerhouse teams. The four teams you’ll see on this trip had a combined 41 wins in 2024!!
You’ll start in Philadelphia for a rematch of the NFC Divisional Round game between the Los Angles Rams and the Eagles.
(The Eagles game of this road trip could also be replaced by the Sunday Night Football game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Giants. It’s a tough call!!!)
Just a short drive down the road (from Philly or NYC), and you’ll find yourself in Baltimore for a Monday Night Football battle between two of the very best teams in the NFL – the Detroit Lions and the Baltimore Ravens.
If you have the time, why not spend an extra day to see the Baltimore Orioles host the Tampa Bay Rays.
Your Week 3 NFL Trip Package Itinerary
- Sept 20: Fly into Philadelphia, pick up your rental car and head to your Eagles hotel. If you have the time, why not try a Philadelphia food tour in search of the best Philly cheesesteak?
- Sept 21: It’s a morning game, so get up early and head to Lincoln Financial Field to soak in the pregame atmosphere before the Rams seek revenge against the defending Super Bowl champs.
- Sept 22: Enjoy a short commute to Baltimore, then settle into your hotel near the stadium. Monday Night Football games always have great energy, so head down early for the primetime matchup between the Detroit Lions and Baltimore Ravens.
Easy Booking Links:
- Tickets: Philadelphia Eagles, (New York Giants), Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles
- Hotels: Lincoln Financial Field hotels, (Met Life Stadium Hotels), M&T Bank Stadium Hotels
- Tours: Philadelphia Food Tour
Week 4 – NFL Road Trips (Sept 22-29, 2025)
As the weather starts to get colder, the two NFL road trip ideas for week 4 are both for sunny locations!
Week 4 – Option #1: Seahawks @ Cardinals and Bears @ Raiders (and Diamondbacks too!)
As with the opportunity in Week 2, this NFL road trip takes you to two of the most enjoyable cities in the league – Phoenix and Las Vegas!

- Sept 24: Your trip begins in Phoenix. Catch the Arizona Diamondbacks host the Los Angeles Dodgers at Chase Field in an afternoon game. Then head to your State Farm Stadium hotel out in Glendale.
- Sept 25: Your first NFL game of this road trip is a primetime matchup on Thursday Night Football between NFC West rivals, the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks.
- Sept 26: Hang around Phoenix one more day for some NCAA Division I football. The Arizona State Sun Devils play TCU at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe, AZ.
- Sept 27: Make your way to Las Vegas during the day to make it in time to catch one of the legendary Las Vegas shows. If you can, check out a show at The Sphere – it will blow your mind!
- Sept 28: Your NFL road trip concludes with an afternoon game at Allegiant Stadium, when the Chicago Bears visit the Las Vegas Raiders. Stay in Vegas for some fun for as long as your schedule allows!

- Tickets: Arizona Diamondbacks, Arizona Cardinals, Sun Devils, Las Vegas Raiders

I was lucky enough to catch a Diamondbacks game on my boys trip to Phoenix. Check out my guide to going to an Arizona Diamondbacks game.
Week 4 – Option #2: Eagles @ Buccaneers and Jets @ Dolphins
Our second NFL road trip idea in Week 4 takes you The Sunshine State for two exciting games – one of which includes the defending Super Bowl Champs – the Philadelphia Eagles!
- Sept 27: Arrive in Tampa at your leisure. Rent a car and make your way to your hotel near the stadium. Enjoy some fun in the sun on your free day.
- Sept 28: Arrive at Raymond James Stadium early to enjoy the pregame atmosphere before the early game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Philadelphia Eagles. Drive to your Hard Rock Stadium hotel in Miami after the game.
Sept 29: You’ll have some time for some fun in the sun before the primetime football game tonight. As it is a Monday Night Football match, you’ll want to get to the stadium early to enjoy the festivities. Then enjoy the MNF game between AFC East rivals the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins.

- Tickets: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins
- Hotels: Raymond James Stadium Hotels, Hard Rock Stadium Hotels
- Tours: Tampa, Miami

Week 5 – NFL Road Trip Ideas (Oct 2 – 6, 2025)
As we flip the calendar into October, some of the northern NFL cities are starting to get a little colder. That’s not an issue for our Week 5 NFL road trips, as they are both in sunny destinations again!
Week 5 – Option #1: 49ers @ Rams and Commanders @ Chargers (and the UCLA Bruins!)
Ok, so this sports travel blog is all about NFL road trips, so I hope you’ll forgive me if you can see two NFL games in the same city on the same trip! Los Angeles is one of the best destinations for a vacation in the US, let alone being able to catch two games at SoFi Stadium!

- Oct 2: Arrive in LA at your leisure. Spend some time at your LA hotel before heading down to SoFi Stadium for the primetime TNF matchup between NFC West rivals, the legendary San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams.
- Oct 3: There are few cities in the NFL which are more fun than LA! Make the most of your free two days in LA with some time at the beach, theme parks, food tours.
- Oct 4: There’s a big time NCAA football game on the Saturday in-between your NFL games. Penn State is in town to play the UCLA Bruins at the Rose Bowl. Don’t miss this Big Ten matchup!
- Oct 4: Just in case, I thought I’d also mention that Dua Lipa begins a 4-night stand at the Forum tonight.
- Oct 5: The 2nd NFL game on this LA road trip is an early afternoon game at SoFi Stadium between the Washington Commanders and the Los Angeles Chargers.
A note about SoFi Stadium hotels… SoFi Stadium is in a central location within the city of Inglewood, which is not the most desirable from a tourist perspective. It’s an ok place, but aside from SoFi, there’s little to do, and not many decent hotels. All things considered, I’d recommend you get a rental car and grab a hotel near one of the awesome beaches in LA. (I stayed near Santa Monica Beach).
Easy Booking Links
- Tickets: Los Angeles Rams, UCLA Bruins, Dua Lipa, Los Angeles Chargers
- Hotels: SoFi Stadium Hotels, Santa Monica Hotels
- LA Tours and Attraction Tickets

I was lucky enough to catch a Rams vs. Eagles game at Sofi Stadium recently. Check out my guide to going to a Los Angeles Rams game.
Week 5 – Option #2: Dolphins @ Panthers and Chiefs @ Jaguars (and NASCAR XFinity!)
Our second NFL trip of Week 5 takes us back to the southeast US, starting with a fun NASCAR Xfinity race and Panthers game in Charlotte, NC. It’s a bit of a drive for the Monday game, but it’ll be worth it to see Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs take on the Jags.

- Oct 4: Arrive in Charlotte as early as you can, so you’ll have time to settle into your downtown hotel before heading to the ‘burbs to see the Drive for the Cure 250 NASCAR Xfinity Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
- Oct 5: Next, head to Bank of America Stadium to catch the early afternoon tilt between the Miami Dolphins and the Carolina Panthers.
- Oct 5: Given it’s nearly a 6 hour drive to Jacksonville, why not hit the road after the Panthers game and drive halfway. The charming city of Charleston, NC is perfect for this!
- Oct 6: Any time you get a chance to see a future Hall of Famer play ball, it’s a big deal. Enjoy your Monday Night Football experience as Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs come to town to play the Jacksonville Jaguars under the lights.

- Tickets: NASCAR, Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars
- Hotels: Bank of America Stadium Hotels, Charleston Hotels, EverBank Stadium Hotels
- Tours: Charlotte, Jacksonville

Week 18
Due to the NFL Flexible Scheduling Policy, it’s near impossible to plan any NFL road trips for the final week of the schedule. The league doesn’t set the date / times of the games for Week 18 until the end of week 17. In addition, there’s typically no Thursday Night Football or Monday Night Football in Week 18 – only two Saturday games. This makes it extra hard to find an opportunity for an NFL road trip.
Wow! There are TONS of awesome NFL road trip ideas for 2025-26!! Stay tuned for more as I work my way through the finer details of the 2025-26 NFL schedule.
